Joe Diffie

A member of the Grand Ole Opry since 1993, Joe Diffie is steeped in the traditions of country music. One of the major New Country stars of the 1990s, he is a dyed-in-the-wool country singer with a cutting rock edge. The former demo singer has earned a reputation as a singer’s singer, a master song craftsman and a flawless judge of great country lyrics.
Versatility has always been a by-word for Joe Diffie. Alongside his own impressive list of chart hits, he has guested on special albums and tribute recordings. His 1992 duet with Mary Chapin Carpenter, Not Too Much To Ask, was nominated for a Grammy and he picked up a CMA Award for his contribution to George Jones’ I Don’t Need Your Rockin’ Chair. In 1998 he won his first Grammy for his performance on Same Old Train, a Marty Stuart song from the TRIBUTE TO TRADITION all-star album. He also performed a stunning rendition of the Charlie Rich hit Behind Closed Doors on the same album.

HONKY TONK ATTITUDE a 1993 release which is paired with album number four, THIRD ROCK FROM THE SUN, a 1994 release which featured two chart-toppers in the title song and his biggest hit Pickup Man. Both albums went platinum and for the first time they are paired on one single CD release.
