Aaron Tippin

A former bodybuilder, Aaron Tippin became part of the 1990’s new traditionalist wave of honky-tonk singers although his music was among the rootsiest of the new traditionalists, he became massively popular with hit singles and gold and platinum albums. He often veered between novelty cuts and uneven country soul and honky-tonk songs, becoming best-known for such working-man anthems as You’ve Got To Stand For Something, I Got It Honest, Working Man’s Ph.D and I Wouldn’t Have It Any Other Way.

Both albums, READ BETWEEN THE LINES and CALL OF THE WILD gained gold discs.
He commanded a vast fan-base in America that not only bought his albums, but also supported his exciting, electrifying stage shows as he embarked on sell-out tours, often working almost 300 shows every year.

Produced by Emory Gordy Jr, READ BETWEEN THE LINES, features some of Nashville’s finest players including such trad players as Sonny Garrish (pedal steel), Rob Hajacos and Stuart Duncan (fiddle), Steve Gibson and Brent Mason (electric guitar), Biff Watson (acoustic guitar), John Barlow Jarvis (piano) and Gordy’s wife Patty Loveless on backing vocals.
Though the album was hugely successful, Gordy was replaced by Scott Hendricks, who took over production for CALL OF THE WILD.

Aaron Tippin has remained firmly rooted in traditional country music but with enough club and roadhouse experience to know what works with today’s country audiences. He is still out there whipping up the crowds touring extensively, including concerts for American servicemen, often in war-torn countries.
Over the years he has proved himself to be no mean songwriter, having co-written virtually all of his hits, including the 20 songs featured here.
