Marty Robbins singer songwriter, actor and Nascar driver is one of the true pioneers of country music spreading its popularity around the world with several international hits during the 1960s. Today 30 years after his death he is still well within the top 30 performers of all time on Billboard magazine’s Country charts. Until his death in 1982 he enjoyed over 90-charted records of which 16 made it No.1. 12 of them are featured on our compilation, which covers the years 1959 to 1982.
Marty won the Grammy Award for the Best Country & Western Recording 1961, for his follow-up album More Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs, and was awarded the Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 1970, for "My Woman, My Woman, My Wife".
He was named ‘Artist Of The Decade’ by The Academy of Country Music and was elected into The Country Music Hall Of fame in 1982.
In 1998 his song, “El Paso” was given a Grammy Hall Of Fame award. He was also inducted into The Nashville Songwriters Hall Of Fame in 1975 and also a star on the “Hollywood Walk Of Fame”
