In his lengthy music career that stretches back to the late 1950s, Bobby Bare has been a pop singer, a folkie, a rocker and a country star. One of country music’s raconteurs supreme, he is a superb song stylist and highly successful recording artist with an impressive 70 country hits between 1962 and 1986 with a dozen of them crossing over to the pop charts. Always one step ahead of the trends, he pioneered the idea of country concept albums years before Willie Nelson’s RED HEADED STRANGER, he was at the forefront of the country-folk movement of the mid-1960s, and went on to become a major player in the 1970s Outlaw Movement and pushed the limits of modern country, especially in his collaborations with songwriter Shel Silverstein.
