Formed in 1992, Nashville-based BlackHawk, featured Henry Paul (ex The Outlaws) (lead vocals, mandolin, acoustic guitar), Van Stephenson (background vocals, electric guitar) and Dave Robbins (background vocals, keyboards.) The harmony-rich country trio, became one of the most successful new country groups of the mid-1990s, scoring a string of top ten hits from their first two albums—their self-titled debut from 1993 and 1995’s STRONG ENOUGH follow-up, both included in this collection.
BlackHawk produced some of the finest country-rock records and took country music by storm.
The debut album went double-platinum in America due in no small part to such powerful singles as Every Once In A While, I Sure Can Smell The Rain and That’s Just About Right.
Their second album, STRONG ENOUGH, which followed in 1995. Throughout the album, the group turns in first-rate songs and tight performances, distinguished by their strong harmonies.
They enjoyed further country hits with I’m Not Strong Enough to Say No, Like There Ain’t No Yesterday, Almost A Memory Now, Big Guitar and King Of The World. The album earned them a gold disc.
