“Live” was the 5th album released by the Black funk-rock group, Mother’s Finest in 1979 it reached No.32 on Billboard’s R&B LP chart and No.203 on Billboard’s Top Pop album chart. The group was formed in 1970 in Atlanta, Georgia by husband and wife vocalists Glenn ‘Doc’ Murdock and Joyce ‘Baby Jean’ Kennedy who joined with Gary ‘Mo’ Moore, guitar Jerry ‘Wyzard’ Seay, bass Mike Keck, keyboards and initially, Donny Vosburgh, drums. Often described as the first Black rock band.
“Live”, was an obvious route for the group to take having toured relentlessly since signing with Epic to huge acclaim. They had worked with acts as diverse as Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush, The Who, Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, AC/DC and Black Sabbath and built an enviable reputation as a house wrecking band often stealing shows from the headliners.
