SAGA - Remember When - The Very Best of Saga to be released May, 29th 2006!!

Saga got together in 1977, and their unmistakable sound was considered their trademark from the very beginning. Success came in the early Eighties when the band entered the radio charts worldwide with albums like Images At Twilight (1979), Worlds Apart (1982) or Head Or Tales (1983) and hits like ‘Humble Stance’, ‘Wind Him Up’, ‘On The Loose’, ‘The Flyer’, ‘How Long’ or ‘Don’t Be Late’. Saga came to Europe for the first time in 1980, opening for Styx.

By the mid-Eighties, the Canadians with their “futuristic synthesis of pop music and classical elements” (Melody Maker) and “inventively orchestrated epic rock music” (Toronto Star) had conquered a continuously growing fan base. To this day, over seven million Saga records have been sold worldwide. During the mid-Eighties, keyboarder Jim Gilmour and drummer Steve Negus, who brought out his Forward Your Emotions album in 1986, left the band. Saga continued as a trio, releasing two much-noticed albums, Behaviour and Wildest Dream.

In the early Nineties, the band embarked on a tour, featuring their original line-up – much to the delight of their fans –, and released their brilliant comeback album, The Security Of Illusion. The subsequent world tour turned into a triumphal march, and 1994 saw the arrival of Steel Umbrellas, the soundtrack for the TV series, ‘Cobra’, followed by the concept album Generation 13 (1995), which dealt with the excesses of today’s consumer society, and Pleasure & The Pain (1997).

In the meantime, guitarist Ian Crichton finalised his first solo album, Welcome To The Boom Boom Room. Saga celebrated their twentieth live anniversary on June 13, 1997, as part of their extensive Pleasure & The Pain tour, while Detour, a live album cut in Germany, Austria, and France during their 1997 European tour, marked the 15th anniversary of the arrival of their extremely successful live album, In Transit, recorded in Munich and Copenhagen in 1992. The studio releases Full Circle and House Of Cards followed, providing a thread that continued through Marathon (2003), Network (2004), The Chapters Live (2005) and the DVDs, Silhouetteand Access All Areas.
